On December 15th, 2016 we had our first doctor's appointment which included, 3 different time slots, 3 separate people to speak with, a lot of snacks, a blankie, paci and 2 adults. I probably could have used all of those for myself because Lakelyn actually did amazing.
They schedule this appointment around 7-8 weeks. I had a feeling I was about a week behind because my cycles are not 28 days like they go by.
So first I had to go and, of course, pee in a cup and then they took me to speak with the lady to go over all of the what to do and what not to do, different tests we could have done to check for certain things, what kind of appointments I would have, the hospital and blah, blah, blah... Nothing has changed since Lakelyn so this was all old information, but I did get a goodie bag with a cute water bottle. With Lakelyn I got a goodie bag but it was only papers and prenatal vitamins in there. I was riding solo with Lakelyn at this point as Tyler had to work and was meeting me there.
Once we finished, I had to go back to the waiting room and wait for them to call me for the ultrasound. Tyler got there just in time. We went back and I had to undress from the waist down which is never fun and really awkward to me. So the ultrasound tech came back in and explained she would look around first and then she would explain to me everything. Thankfully, being and xray tech I have followed and spent some time in ultrasound and also had several ultrasounds with Lakelyn, so I knew exactly what I was looking for which was a sac and baby and a flutter! She started and I immediately saw the black spot in my uterus so knew that was good. Then she did some looking at the cervix and the ovaries and never did explain anything regarding those to me, but did move on to the baby and she measured everything there and then finally zoomed in and I immediately said theres a heartbeat and she agreed it was the heartbeat, but it was too soon to hear it, but measured it and it was 140bpm! That was a relief because I was getting nervous that there might not be one because my home Doppler was in the attic and plus I was still to early to hear it on there. She gave us a few pictures and did a measurement of the baby and I was measuring 6w4d and not 7w5d that they used from my last period.
My due date according to this ultrasound is August 7th, but I believe it will change
After the ultrasound, Tyler had to leave so I was solo again for seeing the doctor which I knew including a dreaded pap smear. So I go in the room and have to undress completely this time and wait for him to come in. He came in all excited and could tell I was still in shock. He did the papsmear and mention the breast soreness should go away in a few weeks, that I will show a lot sooner because of the abdominal muscles being stretched out with Lakelyn. He asked how the nausea was and said he didn't think we needed to mess with the progesterone which is why he didn't call it in with the nausea meds and I told him I agreed because it made me crazy last time. He did say Lakelyn was a perfect size baby for me and that is what were hoping for again this time.
All in all I think that was really it. It went smooth and we are scheduled for our next appointment with him January 12th and then for an ultrasound January 26th
