Trying to do better

I feel like every post I'm having to say, "I'm going to do better with blogging" and I feel like I fail every time. I wanted to document our lives for Lakelyn to have something to look back on when she is older. So here's to trying again to do better. I am hoping since putting the app on my phone it will help me stay on top of things because, after all, who has time between working, coaching cheer, laundry, cleaning, two dogs and a toddler to get on a computer when you can do basically anything from a phone!

So today's post is for all of those moms out there that feel like they're failing. Keep your head up! If she happens to eat a week old Froot Loop that she found on the floor or pulls out every old toy that you have put aside to sell at this weekends garage sale or even pulls her diaper off and runs around for you to catch her before she pees all over the floor, she is happy and that's what matters.

Let the house be a disaster and the laundry pile up until you run out of clothes, use that dish washer more than normal and stay in your pjs for the entire day. Hold her tight, chase her 10738 times around the house, kiss every imaginary boo-boo, read that book 8 more times, and just sit and watch her learn new things. She will be grown and on her own soon enough.
And for now, us mommas will sit on the couch ugly crying after looking at a picture you took that morning because she is growing so fast even if she is in the next room taking her afternoon nap!

Lakelyn's First Birthday

Lakelyn's actual birthday was on a Thursday. We didn't have her party until that Saturday the 12th. I was home with her so I had a bunch of pink balloons that I blew up and took into her room. I put them all in her crib when she woke up and sung "Happy Birthday" to her. I had to hold back he tears basically all day. It was such an emotional day for me.

After a few minutes I got her up and changed her diaper and put her cute little diaper cover and a bow on her and got a few more pictures while she played with the balloons. (FYI its close to the end of June and I still find some balloons around my house).

We had a fairly normal day and Tyler's parents cooked dinner at their house and had a little cake for her. We didn't do anything too crazy.

On Saturday we had a lot to do. We were having her party at Tyler's hunting club. He went that morning to make sure the grass was cut around there and it was cleaned up as much as possible. I had tons of decorations that I needed to get out there and put up. I also had to run to town to get balloons and her cake!

It ended up being really warm on Saturday so while I was waiting for her balloons to be blown up by Party City (who knew there was a wait to have balloons filled) I walked into target to get a few things and I got some shorts that I ended up not wearing that day anyway.

I went by publix to pick up her cake and they didn't have it ready!! I placed the order a week in advanced and told them I would pick it up by 11am. They hadn't even started it when I got there! So I paid for it and luckily my mom was  able to stop by there on her way to the party and get it for me.

I got home showered fast and got ready while Lakelyn napped and Tyler took everything over to the hunting club to start cooking the hamburgers and hot dogs. I got there and started decorating and got everything mostly together before most people got there. I had a slide show to play throughout the party so it felt like I was doing finishing touches while everyone was socializing, but we ate shortly after the party started, did the cake and presents and then took everything down. It was hot and a lot off people had multiple things to do that day. Which I figured because it was a nice spring Saturday.  It also worked out because Lakelyn was exhausted and ready for a nap!

We got her the blanket shown above that has pictures of her and us from the days at the hospital when she was born and also the Minnie mouse 4-wheeler. She loves blankets and I believe she will cherish this one forever <3

It was such a great party and we couldn't thank everyone enough for helping celebrate our baby girl turning ONE! I still can't believe it. She will always be my little 6 pound 13 oz and 19 inches long little baby that never wanted to wake up to eat :)

We love you sweet girl <3
