Tallen 1 month

Tallen is already a month old and I am not sure how the heck it happened so fast! Life with two has been such an adjustment, but I love my two babies so incredibly much! Things this time have been a bit different! Obviously because there is more than one child now, but also its crazy how different each baby is! Tallen has done well with sleeping! He will sleep 4-5 hour stretches at night and has done that since day one. We are doing awesome with breastfeeding. With Lakelyn we did a lot of pumping and bottles as well as breast and with Tallen we are doing basically only breast with very few bottles. Tallen is such a cuddle baby and wants to be held. He started trying to coo at only a week old and finally started getting it out at about 2 weeks. He is such a morning baby and will just smile and talk when he first wakes up. Both of my babies loved looking, talking and smiling at the lights and fans!

He had his first doctor's appointment on Monday January 22nd to take a look at his jaundice. He was 6.8 leaving the hospital and was still 6.8.  He looked great and he did do a loud gulping sound when he ate and also sounded congested sometimes and she said that is a long word and basically is a "floppy airway" and he will grow out of it ususally in a few months.
He went back about a week later on Wednesday January 24th for his circumcision. He was up to 6.14! I felt like a bad parent and good parent all at the same time. I was so sad he was about to get cut on, but knew he would be grateful to not remember it happening when he was older. I could hear him scream when they did the numbing shot :( broke my heart! The procedure was super quick and he did so well with it! Within about 5-7 days it was healed up!
On February 2nd we had our check up for the circumcision and he was up to 7.9 which is still only the 25th % but a big weight gain for a week & 20 3/4 in long 75%. Everything looked perfect!
We were scheduled for newborn pictures on Thursday February 1st, but our photographer's son ended up with the flu and we had to find someone else last minute. So we ended up having his newborn photos done on the 3rd at 15 days old versus Lakelyns were done at 12 days!

I did do some of my own photos of him as well and this time was much better as a photographer.

The next week was pretty low key as Tyler went back to work full time again and I was home adjusting to two kids! We didn't leave the house much!

Tallen celebrated his FIRST holiday which was Valentine's Day at 3 weeks and 5 days old! We didn't do much of anything at all. We did go to Target quickly to grab a few valentine's gifts but that was about it!

All in all the first month has been low key, successful and we've enjoyed every moment with this sweet boy! He has been super chill for the most part. I cannot wait to watch him grow, but would love for time to slow down because I am not ready to blink and him be turning 3 like Lakelyn is in a couple weeks!

Some of the things Tallen can do:

  • lift head briefly when on stomach on a flat surface
  • focus on a face
  • respond to noise in some way, such as startling, crying, quieting.
  • lift head 45 degrees when on stomach
  • vocalize in ways other than crying (he coos and makes a grunting noise and squeels and has let out a couple laughs in his sleep)
  • smile in response to your smile
  • smile spontaneously
  • bringing both hands together
  • his head is pretty steady, but does bobble some

Some things Tallen likes:
  • Eating!!
  • Being held
  • Being patted on the back or butt / being burped
  • Laying on the bed looking at the fan and lights
  • Mommy & Daddy
  • Riding in the car
  • Lakelyn
  • Being kissed and cuddled
  • Hearing the water run in the bath
  • having a warm wash cloth on his belly while you pour water on it
  • being outside
  • His ducks on the wall in his room
  • talking to momma

Some things Tallen doesn't like:
  • Being put down when he is awake, but tired or hungry
  • Having to poop or pass gas
  • Diaper changes
  • Car seat
  • Being cold
  • when he drops his paci out of his mouth
  • changing clothes
