2 month check up

We had our 2 month check up on May 19th which included..... SHOTS! And not the kind with liquor and a small glass!

I had my mom go with me because I did not want to be by myself and we weren't sure if Tyler would be off of work in time to make it there. She did great though. We had 3 shots, two in the right leg and one in the left leg. She also had an oral vaccine too which she actually enjoyed. She only cried for about 30 seconds which seemed like a lifetime to me and completely broke my heart and made me tear up. My mom held her and like a horrible mother that people think I am I did record it so I could show Tyler so he could feel apart of it and see how horrible it was to watch.

She now weighs 10 pounds and 8 ounces and in the 25%
She is now 22 1/2 inches long and in the 50%
Her head circumference is 15 in and in the 50%

She received:
-Pediarix (DTap, IPV, Hepatitis B)
-Hib (Haemophilus influenza type B)
-PCV13 (pneumococcal conjugate)
-Rotavirus (this oral vaccine prevents gastroenteritis (vomiting and severe diarrhea))

She is still supposed to sleep flat on her back and not supposed to have rice cereal or baby food yet. Although I do still put some cereal in her bottle. I don't do very much and its still completely a liquid and she does just fine digesting it. She is a completely healthy little girl with a cute smile and dimples!

Wondering why she's naked!

Not too happy with me!

She is a trooper though and I just love her to pieces!

Must Haves for month 2

Mam Paci- Lakelyn has found a new love for a paci other than the soothie! I was having a hard time with her not being able to keep the soothie in her mouth because of the size so I had one of these Mam paci's that was included in one of my free gifts from the Target registry and it was for infants and a lot smaller. So I gave it to her and she instantly loved it. I was nervous at first because the nipple isn't as round like the soothie and her bottles, but it did not confuse her at all when it comes to breastfeeding or feeding her from the bottle! Now this is the only pacifier she takes!

Bibs- I love these thicker bibs with the towel type material on the back! We have a drool queen and she's not even teething yet. All of her clothes end up soaked especially since she loves putting her hands in her mouth! These bibs are thick enough to keep all the drool absorbed to it and not go through to her clothes! These are more expensive bibs obviously, but I love them and was able to find a couple at Marshalls for $9.99!

Elephant Lovey- She isn't attached to this like some babies get and I know we still have time for that, but when we put her in her car seat she likes to get an attitude and start throwing fits everywhere so we buckle her in, give her paci which is clipped to her car seat and put her arm around lovey so she can't pull her pacifier out her mouth and scream bloody murder while we're driving down the road. Plus she likes the feel of the silk around the edges.

Infant Tylenol- Our house was hit with the cold plague and I was also hit with laryngitis. I was so worried about her getting sick and there was one night she did seem kind of warm and like she might not be feeling well so I gave her some Tylenol AND we also had shots this month so she had some Tylenol before and after shots as well. She actually liked it I think!

Infant nail clippers- She is NOT a fan of having her nails clipped, but she throws such a fit when she gets over tired and can't get to sleep that she scratches her face and with her rubbing her eyes now we have to keep them short, so she just has to deal with them being clipped.

Suction bulb- Again with the cold going around our house I don't know if she just had a runny nose or I was just over reacting, but I used this bad boy quite a few times along with saline drops to suction out her nose. She doesn't always like it while its happening, but after it's done she can breathe better and we are all happy!

4th Anniversary

I know 4 years does not seem like a long time, but when you have been together for a total of 9 years, since you were 15 & 16 years old, it is indeed a long time! It has honestly flown by and I know the years to come will continue to fly by just as fast if not faster!

I believe this is one of our first pictures together. We were riding four-wheelers

We have watched so many people get married and separate or divorce shortly after and it really is heartbreaking. We may have been young when we got married, but we both knew divorce was not something we would ever want to do. We both knew that we would do whatever it took to stay together and work out our problems. We both knew we would fight for each other, forever.

Our first day as an engaged couple! January 1st, 2010

I don't think it really matters who you are or how long you have been together. The first year of marriage was difficult, hands down hardest year of our life. It's an adjustment and a whole new world, but as long as you keep God at the center of your marriage and first in your life everything else will fall into place with a little bit of work.

I love him to pieces and will forever be grateful for the bond we will share through Lakelyn and our future babies! I vow to always put him before our children so that our marriage will stay strong and our children will have a stable home and hopefully a good example of what marriage should be like. I love you Tyler Veronee and can't wait to spend many, many more years with you and watching our family grow!

Please excuse the crappy quality of pictures, I didn't have the best wedding photographer. I seem to have an issue with finding good ones!

Mother's Day

My first Mother's Day (to a human and not fur-babies) was so great! When I was pregnant with Lakelyn I didn't get any stretch marks until 33 weeks. I got a few on my hips which didn't bother me all that much, but at 36 weeks I got the PUPPPs rash and I got bad stretch marks all around my belly button and on both sides. I also started to swell and gain a ton of weight quickly which was my main sign of preeclampsia. I gained a total of I believe 42 pounds. Most of that being in my last month. Since having her I lost the first 30 pounds within the first 2-3 weeks and I have been holding on to these last 12 pounds, ugly stretch marks and flabby belly skin. I am very self conscious now and hate the way my body looks. I am slowly doing what I can to get back down to my pre-pregnancy weight and to help these stretch marks fade. Don't get me wrong I would do it all over and a million times worse just to have this precious girl, but that doesn't mean I have to like my "after" body.

So that being said for Mother's Day I just wanted to go shopping and buy some clothes that "fit" and I didn't have to show off my muffin top. I know that isn't the best way to get back down to my weight, but wearing clothes that are just too tight would probably send me into depression quick. So on Saturday Tyler and Lakelyn took me to Kohls, H&M and Forever 21 to get a couple pairs of shorts and a few shirts. I also got a bikini which is my motivation! Then we went to dinner at AW Shucks and then got a milkshake from Ben & Jerrys (yes, I know this doesn't help me lose the weight, but in my defense my husband made me walk 5,000 miles from the parking garage to Forever 21 and AW Shucks and back to the parking garage in the rain while holding an umbrella AND pushing a stroller so it was a well deserved milkshake!)

On Sunday, I got a grilled cheese made and brought to me while I took Lakelyn's two month pictures and then we went to church and they honored all the moms with roses and had a sermon on the importance of women! I could probably go on and on about this sermon and how great I thought it was, but I should leave that for another post! I will just say you can go to Brookhaven Fellowship's website and you can listen to it for yourself!

Overall I would say it was a great first mother's day!

I thank God for giving me the opportunity to be the mom to this precious baby girl! I am so incredibly blessed!

Two months old!

Lakelyn turned two months old on May 10th, 2015! I can't believe how fast time is going by! I swear it seems like yesterday this sweet girl entered the world and changed my world the second she popped out!
Tyler's aunt gave me a book "What To Expect The First Year" and in all honesty I have not read it, but I look at the "What your baby may be doing" part to see where she is at with her age compared to the "average" I guess you could say. Although, I may just read the book if I ever get a chance (along with the "love language" book and the Dave Ramsey's "Total Money Makeover" book).

Anyway, at two months old Lakelyn can do all the things that a baby her age should be able to do including:
  • smile in response to your smile
  • respond to a bell in some way

She can also do all the things a baby her age probably would be able to do including:
  • vocalize in ways other than crying
  • lift head 45 degrees while lying on stomach
She can also do some of the things a baby her age may be able to do including:
  • hold head steady when upright (for a few minutes at least and then it tends to drop)
  • grasp a rattle held to the backs or tips of fingers (if you give it to her she can, but she doesn't grab for it)
  • say "ah-goo" or similar vowel-consonant combinations
she cannot:
  • on stomach, raise chest, supported by arms
  • roll over one way
  • reach for an object
  • pay attention to an object as small as a raisin (I'm not sure about this one because I don't put anything that small near her)
Lakelyn can do almost all of the things a baby her age may possibly be able to do including:
  • smile spontaneously
  • bring both hands together
  • on stomach, lift head 90 degrees
  • squeal in delight
  • follow an object held about 6 inches above the baby's face and moved 180 degrees (from one side to the other) with baby watching the whole way
she cannot:
  • laugh out loud (she has a little bit in her sleep while dreaming, but I can't wait until she can)
Some things Lakelyn does not like right now are:
  • hiccups
  • being put in her car seat
  • she will not sleep flat on her back. She doesn't mind sleeping in her rock & play or car seat which is at an incline, but unless she's awake and playing she doesn't like laying flat on her back
  • being gassy or hungry
  • me putting her down to get ready in the mornings or putting her down when she's tired and is fighting sleep
this is her "make the hiccups stop" face

Some things Lakelyn likes right now are:
  • bath time
  • getting changed
  • people talking to her
  • grabbing my shirt while she's laying on my chest
  • rubbing soft materials
  • her swing
  • music
  • moving around (walking, bouncing, riding in the car, swing, rocking, anything that has movement)
  • morning time chats
  • morning time snuggles

  • me cuddling her to sleep

  • laying on her belly

  • selfies

Lakelyn has also learned at 7 weeks how to rub her eyes when she is tired, has a new love for her paci when she is falling fighting sleep, went to the lake for the first time (no boat or water just visiting), went to the beach for the first time (again, no water), hold her hands together on her chest or on mine while im feeding her, she will kick her little legs so fast and pant like a puppy dog or squeal loud when she get excited and poke out her bottom lip when she starts fussing, and will sleep for about 5 to 5 1/2 hours at night with rice cereal added to her bottle and about 4ish hours without it.

Lakelyn Beth, you are mommy and daddy's absolute pride and joy. We love you to the moon and back and way beyond that. You have brought a joy to our hearts, lives, and marriage that we could have never imagined. You will never know just how much you mean to us. We are loving watching you grow and become your own little person. Ok, well I only cry a little at every week and month that pass by, but that is only because I know how fast life goes and I want to cherish every moment with you! We love you baby girl!

I can't believe how big she has gotten. Excuse me while I go wipe these tears!

XOXO
