Lakelyn is 6 months old!

Lakelyn turned SIX months old on September 10th! I'm totally in DENIAL and completely 100% emotional about it! I mean these first 6 months FLEW by and I know the next 6 will go by even faster with the holidays coming up. I just can't believe my little 6lb 13oz baby girl will be a toddler before I know it and I just can't deal with that right now! I need her to stay little :(

At six months old Lakelyn can do all of the things a baby her age should be able to do including:
  • keep head level with body when pulled to sitting
  • say "ah-goo" or similar vowel-consonant combinations

She can do all of the things a six month old baby will probably be able to do including:
  • bear some weight on legs when held upright
  • sit without support
  • turn in the direction of a voice
  • make a "razz" sound

Lakelyn can do everything a six month old may possibly be able to do including:
  • stand holding onto someone or something (while holding our hands)
  • work to get a toy that's out of reach
  • pass a cube or another object from one hand to another
  • look for dropped object
  • take with fingers a tiny object and pick it up in a fist
  • babble, combining vowels and consonants such as ga-ga-ga, ba-ba-ba, ma-ma-ma, da-da-da
  • object when we take something away (she will tighten her grip a bit, but that is really it)
  • Feed herself a cracker or other finger foods (she usually drops it all on the floor for the dogs, or throws it down there on purpose who knows)

At six months old Lakelyn can do some of the things that a baby her age may even be able to do including:
  • creep or crawl
  • pull up to standing position from sitting
  • say "mama" or "dada" indiscriminately  (she will say dada, but not mama)
She cannot:
  • get into a sitting position from stomach (she tries hard at this, but is not quite there yet)
  • pick up a tiny object with any part of thumb and finger (I believe its still all fists right now)

Some of the things she likes:
  • still loving baths
  • going on walks in her stroller
  • being held
  • attention
  • sitting up
  • standing up
  • dogs
  • being outside
  • apples and apple juice
  • mickey mouse clubhouse
  • cell phones
  • spitting
  • pulling hair
  • kicking her legs
Her pappy gave her $20 to get her toes painted :) Spoiled much?

First pedicure!

I mean this is the life!

First time sitting up all by herself!

 I love this little face!

There is not much she doesn't like except being put down or when you walk out of her sight. And she HATES getting clothes put on her. Child would rather be naked ALL THE TIME! Other than that and her lack of sleep these days, she is a fairly happy baby!

First football season for her is underway, unfortunately we aren't very good this year!

She can rock some garnet and black though ;)

Lakelyn Beth, I am sure every month I repeat myself when I say I cannot believe how fast time is going by. I cannot believe how big you are getting and how much you are learning. I know I am not the best mom and I make a lot of mistakes, but I really do try. I apologize for any moments that I get frustrated with you when you wake up 300 times in the night or won't let me put you down or let me out of your sight. I am trying very hard to remember that these days will past so quickly and I will be wishing I could have just one more sleepless night holding you in my arms so that you will sleep, or one more day of laying on the living room floor watching mickey mouse clubhouse on repeat playing the sit me up, help me stand, watch me fall game. You are my world baby girl and this month has been one of the toughest for me to swallow. 6 months is a big one. its your half birthday. In only 6 more short months we will be celebrating your 1st birthday and I just cannot wrap my head around that. I just want you to stay my little baby that needs me forever. I love you so much babygirl and there is not a thing in this world I would not do for you!

Sleep regression

Sleep regression is mom's worst nightmare! Lakelyn was a fairly good sleeper until we hit the 4 month mark which I discussed in this post. Her sleep routine went completely out the window and basically never returned. It did get a little better or maybe I was just getting used to waking up 100 times a night. But last week we had a great week! She was sleeping almost through the night! She would go to bed a 8pm wake between 12-2 and eat and go right back to sleep until time to get up at 8am. She did wake twice a couple times, but still waking 2 times in the night is basically sleeping through the night for us!

However that was obviously just a tease because she has gone off the deep end again! Except this time it's way worse! This time its waking every hour or waking several times every hour! And taking longer to go back to sleep! Last night we were up literally from 12-4am! NOTHING was working! I think she finally just go to worn out that she eventually fell asleep.

I've read a few articles on this and have learned that is basically a new way of living. Its a huge development milestone which is great her, but horrible for my love of sleep. She has a deep sleep and light sleep pattern now just like us except when she wakes from her "light sleep" she has a hard time going back to sleep without help.

Here are my thoughts on how to get this figured out:
1. when she wakes give her a couple of minutes to see if she'll fall back asleep
2. if not go in and give her a paci
3. if that doesn't help, pick her up and hold her with her paci
4. if need be nurse her back to sleep

On top doing those at night, I need to get better with making sure she naps at the same time everyday even if she doesn't want to "nap" she will still need to be in her crib so she can learn that this is her nap time. If she sleeps well during the day she will normally sleep better at night as well.

I'm hoping after a couple of weeks we will slowly be able to get to the point of if she wakes up she will fall back to sleep on her own.

I'll be sure to update on how this goes! Any advice is welcome!

A picture is worth a thousand words! Part two

As promised here are some more pictures!

These were taken in my front yard. It was a little difficult because she is just learning to sit up by her self and I could go to far for too long before she would face plant into the ground! We got a few pictures in before she decided to take a nap! P.S this was my dress from when I was a baby!
Enjoy!

Last, but not least my favorite pictures will be posted in part 3!

A picture is worth a thousand words!

And I take tons of pictures!

I have never once ran out of room on my phone. Back in May I think it was I got a new phone. The Galaxy Note 4 and it is 32GB well technically 26GB because 8 of that is what is used for the phone to operate. Well ladies and gents I am out of room on my phone from all of my pictures and videos. 99% of them are Lakelyn! Not only am I out of room there, but my computer space is low! Like really low. Which means I need to invest in an external hard drive.

Anyway, my birthday is in December. 13 days before Christmas to be exact and lets face it everyone is broke by this time! So this year since having Lakelyn I have become obsessed with pictures and I wanted a nice camera. Like professional level camera. So I had a yard sale, made enough money to pay for half of a brand new one, but decided since I'm such a cheap person anyway to go to the pawn shops and craigslist for one first. Look and searched for a few weeks and found nothing until my very last stop before giving in to buy a new one. I found a brand new Nikon D3200 with a 55-200mm lens! (side note: these lenses are very expensive themselves) and their price was listed at $400! Um, so sorry that is crazy talk for a used one. I decided to make an offer of $200 (it was a low blow, but come on the battery was dead and I couldn't even test it out plus its a pawn shop) and they said they would take $250 for it since its been there awhile!!!!! UMMMM YES PLEASE!

So now that I have this lovely camera I want to take tons and tons of pictures and my model? Duh.. poor child, I know she gets tired of a camera in her face, but who else will I take pictures of?

Its a learning progress and some pictures are not up to par with what I hoped for, but I am learning my settings so they are getting better!

Here's a few: (these are really noisy and grainy, I know)

Part two and three of this model's pictures to come! Stay tuned :)
