Sleep regression

Sleep regression is mom's worst nightmare! Lakelyn was a fairly good sleeper until we hit the 4 month mark which I discussed in this post. Her sleep routine went completely out the window and basically never returned. It did get a little better or maybe I was just getting used to waking up 100 times a night. But last week we had a great week! She was sleeping almost through the night! She would go to bed a 8pm wake between 12-2 and eat and go right back to sleep until time to get up at 8am. She did wake twice a couple times, but still waking 2 times in the night is basically sleeping through the night for us!

However that was obviously just a tease because she has gone off the deep end again! Except this time it's way worse! This time its waking every hour or waking several times every hour! And taking longer to go back to sleep! Last night we were up literally from 12-4am! NOTHING was working! I think she finally just go to worn out that she eventually fell asleep.

I've read a few articles on this and have learned that is basically a new way of living. Its a huge development milestone which is great her, but horrible for my love of sleep. She has a deep sleep and light sleep pattern now just like us except when she wakes from her "light sleep" she has a hard time going back to sleep without help.

Here are my thoughts on how to get this figured out:
1. when she wakes give her a couple of minutes to see if she'll fall back asleep
2. if not go in and give her a paci
3. if that doesn't help, pick her up and hold her with her paci
4. if need be nurse her back to sleep

On top doing those at night, I need to get better with making sure she naps at the same time everyday even if she doesn't want to "nap" she will still need to be in her crib so she can learn that this is her nap time. If she sleeps well during the day she will normally sleep better at night as well.

I'm hoping after a couple of weeks we will slowly be able to get to the point of if she wakes up she will fall back to sleep on her own.

I'll be sure to update on how this goes! Any advice is welcome!

A tired baby and tired momma getting nothing done.

The aftermath of fighting sleep!
