Nursery ideas for baby #3

I am NOT into the idea of a gender neutral nursery. Which makes this very difficult. I also don’t have the personality type to not have a nursery ready before the baby comes. Which makes this even more difficult. So, I have a couple of ideas in my head of what I want to do and then the “base” nursery will be set. Then once baby is born and we know what it is, we can add the finishing touches to make it a room for a boy or girl.

With Lakelyn as soon as we found out it was a girl we ran out and bought purple paint and started painting her room. I knew I did not want to do the traditional "pink" for a girl room. I didn’t even get it finished before stopping and deciding I did not like it. And her room sat that way for months. Around 30 something weeks I got back in there and repainted it light gray. I added her white crib, white dresser/changing table, white toy box, glider that I never painted white, some book shelves, a chandelier, made a “diamond” pendant looking mobile and some wall decorations. On her dresser we’re some glass jars with pacifiers and bows, a lamp and on the wall we’re some baskets for diapers, wipes and other miscellaneous items that we’d need for diaper changes. I loved her room!

With Tallen I had been dreaming of his nursery for years. With him being a boy and my husband the huge hunter that he is I knew there would be a fight of camouflage! I did NOT want a room full of camp so I knew I needed to have a game plan to balance this out. I immediately fell in love with a dark wood pallet wall idea and the other remaining walls white. I decided to go for a rustic theme and still incorporate the deer, ducks and turkeys. Navy blue looked best to me so there were hints of that throughout his room. We made his changing table to match the pallet wall color and it’s still one of my favorite pieces of furniture. My husband it quite crafty when he wants to be. Lastly I got a camouflage recliner vs a glider and it was the best decision and it’s so comfortable! He will probably keep it in his room forever. Put up some rustic and animal decor and his room was complete. Love his room so much still!

So with high expectations I have to think of what to do now. I do not want to repeat their rooms. With a girl it would be much easier because the flowers are in right now and it wasn’t back when lakelyn was born so that would be simple. However for a boy I’m at a lost! I do not like any themes that are out there. Which would mean no theme. One thing I do love that would work for a boy or girl is shiplap! We did a pallet wall for Tallen because of the cost of shiplap but I think we’d have to just break down and fork out the money this time. I also like the wooden name sign. I think it would look really nice on shiplap above the crib. It could also go for a boy and just keep the flowers off!

I am also into the sage green color, but I know I couldn't paint the room green. There is no way I could handle that much color! My current thoughts are: pain the walls a shade of white (yes, there is such thing as shades of white), put up some shiplap, get green decor like a green rug, green curtains, and some green sheets for the crib and changing pad. I do need to get a rocking chair still too! Not sure what color to go with there.. I don't want a green one because I would want to reuse it once it's time for it to come out of the baby's room. So my thoughts are still a work in progress!

Easter weekend

Ok, so first I feel a very strong need to put out there and make it known that I’m NOT a writer! I did ok in English and by that, I mean I graduated so I got through it! I also write a lot of these posts from my phone, so there’s that! So don’t judge me!

Next, I feel I should mention that last week was TOUGH! It was just so busy! I have several job titles and I had to wear each hat last week at some point, even several hats in one day. I had to be the SAHM and do doctor appointments which included shots, comforting after the shots, momma that night when the fever and vomiting started, work from home mom while doing billing and other office work, photographer and do a session and work on editing some sessions, wife and clean house and cook dinner (thank you Lord for sending me a husband that doesn’t mind helping here), homeowner that has to do yard work and be home for AT&T appointments (they’ll be here between 12-4 kind of appointments), the pregnant lady that just exhausted, referee, holiday Easter mom, and all the other things! Only job I did not have to do last week was my X-ray job! It was just a lot for one week and I feel like I need a vacation from it, but it doesn’t stop!

Now that that pity party is over, anyone else not feel guilty that they don’t do Easter Bunny photos? I mean I did for Lakelyns first two Easter’s, but she HATED it and we did force her again for Tallen’s first Easter last year and she still hated it. Quite honestly, the bunny is super creepy so I don’t blame her and decided I’m going to forego the photos because I’d prefer ones with Santa and those dang photos are expensive! Cutting cost, thanks Dave!

Friday we had those crazy storms, we’ll it was mainly really bad winds at my house so we decided not to drive in it and I again worked from home. Tyler and the shop decided to get out a little earlier too because of what they thought would be the worst time for the storms and wanted everyone to make it home safely. So he came home a little early and we were all happy! It was one of those please take the kids and let me just lay here in peace for 10 minutes kind of moments! We all piled on our bed and watched the grinch. It was actually peaceful and I may have gotten to doze off for 5 whole minutes! We needed some groceries and last minute Easter things and the weather cleared up like a flip of a switch and so we decided to go get dinner and do our errands. We all made it home in one piece and no crying so it was a success

Like I’ve mentioned Tyler’s grandfather passed away January 31st and he ran a boat shop for many, many, many years. With the unexpected passing the family was left with figuring out what to do with it and all of the stuff and there’s a lot of stuff!! He was such a great mechanic and was the only one around that would have parts to older boats or know how to fix them. He was the best and most respected mechanic around I’d say. However, the shop was/is full of so much of this stuff and none of us really have a clue what it goes to or what it even is. Keeping it open was just not an option, it was too expensive and none of us could do the work he did and there isn’t anyone you can hire that could do what he did. He was one of a kind. The family decided the best option was to rent out the building which means all of the boat shop stuff has to be cleaned out. The family has been up there the past few weekends trying to get that done. I have been home with the kids and doing photo sessions so this passed Saturday was my first day out there, not that I could do too much anyway. Most of my time was spent chasing Tallen around and letting him jump in buckets of oil (daddy happened to be there to save him from that one and nobody was harmed). We had plans on dying Easter eggs that evening so the kids (and me) passed out in the truck on the way home to recoup.

I had this fun idea of dying the eggs in this new way I saw on Facebook with cool whip! I did not take any pictures of the process of aftermath. Surprisingly I just forgot. Basically, it goes like this..
1) boil your eggs
2) put them in a bowl of vinegar to soak for a few minutes
3) roll them in your cool whip + liquid food coloring mixture (I used cupcake pans to have several different color mixtures but there’s no real method to this.. just trial and error)
4) we put them back in the egg carton to dry
5) after this point we do t really know what to do.. we put them in the fridge and called it a day, but I’d guess to leave them in there for a bit and then rinse the excess cool whip off the eggs and let them air dry so that all of the color doesn’t rinse off.

I’m sure this was NOT how it was supposed to go, but it’s how we did it! It tasted good but was a bigger mess than I felt like dealing with so next year it’s back to the store bought kits!

We got home early, got baths early and set out our Easter baskets in hopes the bunny would fill them up! Side note: we just started this tradition this year in hopes I can avoid the question of "how did the Easter Bunny get my basket?" Plus, we leave stockings for Santa why not leave out the basket for the Bunny? Anyway we hopped in our bed and watched a little bit of the Santa Claus 3 to catch a glimpse of the Easter Bunny. After seeing him in the movie everyone got in their own beds effortlessly and fell asleep within 5-10 minutes! Except me of course because I had to be the Easter bunny’s helper! Once he headed out I finally passed out!

We had our alarm set for bright and early 6:30am! We had to get up see what the Easter Bunny left and did to our house and then hurry and get ready for church.

Tallen was not ready to get up and didn’t have a clue on what was going on. Lakelyn was not really ready to get up but once she realized the Easter Bunny came she was a little more interested. She thought him leaving footprints and “pooping” all over the house was the funniest thing! She’d been talking about him leaving foot prints in the house like Santa did for weeks! She was more interested in that than her actual basket, but after a little bit she loved her little bunny. She’s been wanting a real bunny for a couple months now but that toy bunny is all the bunny she’s getting! So love her good, sissy!
Mommy's basket included gum, makeup, a new cup, some candy and a laser hair removal thing. Our dog, Ella's basket has a couple of doggy bones!
Lakelyn's basket had Betsy the Bunny, bubbles (left over from birthday!), some dollar spot things like a bath bomb, new cups, play dough (left over from birthday?), new socks, shoes, bows (all things I would of HAD to buy anyway), candy, golden egg with $5 for her piggy bank
Tallen's basket had this security blanketLittle Tikes baseball set, bubbles & play dough (both left over from Lakelyn's birthday), candy, swim diapers, shoes, socks, life jacket (all things I would of had to buy, and $5 inside a golden egg

 ALL THE GOODIES

 The Bunny's big mess!!

Tyler's basket was a car washing bucket and some detailing stuff, Old Spice body wash, gum and candy. Our other dog, Mylee, got some dog bones!

17 weeks

How far along: 17 weeks, 4 days
Baby Growth:Baby #3 is about 5 inches and weighs about 5 ounces!
My Symptoms: I still don't have many symptoms. I'm always tired, but that probably has alot to do with having two small kids and working.

I am getting the pains and soreness in my pubic bones already which totally sucks, but nothing I can do about it. I thought I would have more time before this started, but I guess not!

Gender:  Don't know.
Weight gain:  Don't even want to talk about it... 5 pounds which is more than either of my other pregnancies at this point! I hope it evens out. I really don't want to gain that much and I really haven't been eating "bad", or alot. I think it may be all the coffee!
Maternity clothes: Yes and no. They're more comfortable, but some of my stuff is still too big or for the winter. I'm about half and half i suppose.
Stretch marks: Old ones, but my belly will randomly itch which worries me..
Belly button in or out: In
Sleep: It has been good.
Best moment this week: Started to feel more movements!
Worst moment this week: Not much, just busy and some days my kids like to really test my limit!
Miss anything:  Walking without being in pain.
Movement: Yes, starting to feel them more and more.
Cravings: Nope. Soda maybe sometimes or coffee..I try to limit it to one a day which is usually my morning coffee, but sometimes i'll have a soda later in the day.
Queasy or sick: Still feeling good.
Wedding rings on or off: On
Looking forward to:  We leave for a cruise in 8 days! Super excited for a vacation and then the week we get back I have my 20 week ultrasound.
Belly Pictures:  This is morning before the belly really gets big!
