Nursery ideas for baby #3

I am NOT into the idea of a gender neutral nursery. Which makes this very difficult. I also don’t have the personality type to not have a nursery ready before the baby comes. Which makes this even more difficult. So, I have a couple of ideas in my head of what I want to do and then the “base” nursery will be set. Then once baby is born and we know what it is, we can add the finishing touches to make it a room for a boy or girl.

With Lakelyn as soon as we found out it was a girl we ran out and bought purple paint and started painting her room. I knew I did not want to do the traditional "pink" for a girl room. I didn’t even get it finished before stopping and deciding I did not like it. And her room sat that way for months. Around 30 something weeks I got back in there and repainted it light gray. I added her white crib, white dresser/changing table, white toy box, glider that I never painted white, some book shelves, a chandelier, made a “diamond” pendant looking mobile and some wall decorations. On her dresser we’re some glass jars with pacifiers and bows, a lamp and on the wall we’re some baskets for diapers, wipes and other miscellaneous items that we’d need for diaper changes. I loved her room!

With Tallen I had been dreaming of his nursery for years. With him being a boy and my husband the huge hunter that he is I knew there would be a fight of camouflage! I did NOT want a room full of camp so I knew I needed to have a game plan to balance this out. I immediately fell in love with a dark wood pallet wall idea and the other remaining walls white. I decided to go for a rustic theme and still incorporate the deer, ducks and turkeys. Navy blue looked best to me so there were hints of that throughout his room. We made his changing table to match the pallet wall color and it’s still one of my favorite pieces of furniture. My husband it quite crafty when he wants to be. Lastly I got a camouflage recliner vs a glider and it was the best decision and it’s so comfortable! He will probably keep it in his room forever. Put up some rustic and animal decor and his room was complete. Love his room so much still!

So with high expectations I have to think of what to do now. I do not want to repeat their rooms. With a girl it would be much easier because the flowers are in right now and it wasn’t back when lakelyn was born so that would be simple. However for a boy I’m at a lost! I do not like any themes that are out there. Which would mean no theme. One thing I do love that would work for a boy or girl is shiplap! We did a pallet wall for Tallen because of the cost of shiplap but I think we’d have to just break down and fork out the money this time. I also like the wooden name sign. I think it would look really nice on shiplap above the crib. It could also go for a boy and just keep the flowers off!

I am also into the sage green color, but I know I couldn't paint the room green. There is no way I could handle that much color! My current thoughts are: pain the walls a shade of white (yes, there is such thing as shades of white), put up some shiplap, get green decor like a green rug, green curtains, and some green sheets for the crib and changing pad. I do need to get a rocking chair still too! Not sure what color to go with there.. I don't want a green one because I would want to reuse it once it's time for it to come out of the baby's room. So my thoughts are still a work in progress!
